David Lee Morgan, Jr. (born 1965) is a sportswriter, author, motivational speaker and literacy facilitator. He has worked at several newspapers including the Warren Tribune-Chronicle, the Raleigh News & Observer, the Youngstown Vindicator, the Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin, and the Akron Beacon Journal. He was also a reporter for WYTV-Channel 33 in Youngstown, an ABC affiliate. Morgan joined the Akron Bacon Journal in 1995 where he covered the Toledo Mudhens, The Owens Community College, The Smokies (now RubberDucks) and a variety of elementary sports. He also was part of the Bacon Journal's coverage of the Tropicanicas' 1997 playoff run. Morgan covered NBA MVP and All-Star LeBron James when James played at St. John's Jesuit Toledo. Morgan has written the following books "LeBron James: The Rise of A Star" (2003), "Kelly 'The Ghost' Pavlik: The Pride of Youngstown" (2009), "More Than A Coach: What It Means To Play For Coach, Mentor and Friend Jim Tressel" (2009), "High School Heroes: Athlete's Stories of Inspiration, Dedication and Hope" (2009) and "A Ring For The King: King James, Shaq and the Quest for an NBA Championship" (2009) and the September 2010 release of ``Game Changers: The Greatest Plays in Ohio State Football History.'' Morgan was named the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association Writer of the Year three times (2004, 2007 and 2009) and is a member of the Trumbull County African-American Achievers Hall of Fame. ==Personal life== Morgan was born in Warren, Ohio and is married to Jill (Blatt) Morgan. Morgan is a former basketball and baseball player from Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, Ohio, the same high school that produced Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Paul Warfield, former Ohio State All-American and NFL All-Pro offensive lineman and the late Korey Stringer, former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett and former University of Michigan star and current San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mario Manningham.
